Don Harvey was raised in the Mississippi river town of Winona Minnesota, and is a graduate of Winona High School. He received a B.S. degree in Industrial Education from Winona State University. While teaching high school in Austin Minnesota he bought his first guitar and learned basic cording by studying instruction books and playing to records. About a year later he could be seen performing at open stage events. His talents soon caught the eye of a local band leader and music store operator. Don became the lead singer of the "Shakin' Loose" band. After his move to La Crosse Wisconsin in 1980 he was still returning to the Austin area to play with the band. 
As a solo act he played the La Crosse area for the next few years before starting the "Rising Stars" trio with his wife Becca. After opening a vintage clothing store and giving birth of their first child, Becca decided it was time to get out of the music business. Don was without a band for several months and was getting quite anxious when the call came to audition with "Tennessee". With two evenings of rehearsal the new "Tennessee" band won a local Tru-Value Country Showdown competition. Since that time the band has been playing somewhere in the tri-state area almost every weekend. The band "Tennessee" has now become a major attraction at festivals, clubs, and concerts, and is in the process of finishing their second recording of original material. 

In spite of the success with "Tennessee" Don is not quite ready to quit his day job. He has been a teacher at Holmen High School in Holmen Wisconsin for over twenty years. He enjoys the teaching profession and has completed a Masters degree in Instructional Media at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. Don has been an assistant coach in a very successful track program at Holmen for eight years, and has always been interested in sports. He teaches classes in Graphic Arts, Photography, and Drafting, which he considers both challenging and fun. Oh yes, he also writes songs in his spare time. 

Don is now playing in an acoustic/electric duo and has just completed his first CD of original music. The recording, Good As Gone contains songs performed by the Tennessee band and other musician friends.
