Shorty’s has been in the same spot since 1932. It was established in 1932 by “Shorty” Jung. The cafe is know for generous portions of moderately priced tasty food. The most popular items on the Shorty’s menu are batter fried fish, chicken and shrimp. The Fish Fry at Shorty’s is famous through out the Winona area. We still use the Original Secret Shorty’s recipes in a 2 step process to make our fresh batter-fried fish. Since being founded, Shorty’s has also been owned by “Tor” Troke, “Dosh” Troke and most recently by Greg “Shiney” Fakler, who purchased the business in 1991.
